Sample Preparation Equipment

Hydraulic presses are versatile tools for laboratory sample preparation. In conjunction with a pellet die they can be used to form solid and semi-solid pellets (also called tablets and briquettes) for various spectroscopic and physical testing methods including infrared (IR) spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy, dielectric spectroscopy, tablet dissolution tests, and more. It is also possible to compact powdered mineral, biological, ceramic and metallic materials as a stage prior to sintering in the research and development of novel materials. With heated platens, a hydraulic press can also be used for preparation of thin polymeric films for either spectroscopic or material research purposes.

Manual Press | laboratory pellet press

The 15 ton and 25 ton Manual Hydraulic Presses have been designed to handle a wide variety of pressing applications. They are especially suited for the preparation of solid samples for XRF analysis and KBr discs for FTIR analysis Specac Evacuable Pellet Dies. The Presses can also be used with Specac Heated Platens for applications such as the preparation of thin polymer films.

Autotouch® Press | High throughput XRF press

Specac’s Autotouch hydraulic press is available in 8 Ton, 15 Ton, 25 Ton and 40 Ton load configurations for industrial XRF applications and other laboratory sample manipulation applications. When allied with Specac’s Apex quick release die, the Autotouch press is capable of rapid, high-throughput sample prep in laboratories preparing up to a few hundred samples per day. The die automatically reconfigures for pellet release and avoids the additional handling associated with traditional pellet dies.

Mini-Pellet Press
